California is at the forefront of implementing hydrogen as a lower-carbon fuel alternative in the US. Starting with light-duty and heavy-duty vehicles, it has now expanded to include aviation, rail, and marine sectors. State policies, along with initiatives from the US Department of Energy, foster an environment for testing these applications while the fuel’s limited availability causes it to dispense at a premium to incumbent fuels.
