Resorcinol is used to produce resorcinol-formaldehyde resin to improve the adhesion of rubber and other materials in rubber products, wood adhesives, flame retardants, UV stabilizers, dyes, and others. All of the dominant consumption sectors are related to the automotive and construction industries, which have been impacted by the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic. Global consumption of resorcinol will recover and grow at an average annual growth rate of 8.9% during 2020–25, or 2.7% during 2019–25.
