2020年12月10日，中国石油经济技术研究院（CNPC ETRI）和埃信华迈（IHS Markit）将联合举办2021年国际能源发展高峰论坛。由于新冠疫情，本届论坛将首次结合线上线下方式举行。今年，已迈入第八个年头的国际能源发展高峰论坛将在高管人士、政府要员及思想领袖的参与下广泛探讨与全球能源市场相关的各类话题。
本次论坛题为"合作与创新—多变世界下的能源产业"，活动环节包括主旨演讲和专题讨论，主要内容有：聚焦地缘政治、治理、技术及可持续发展方面的变化，考察这些变化如何影响和塑造能源市场与企业战略，以及发掘能源业的协作和创新机会。鉴于中国的"十四五计划"即将启幕以及新冠疫情严重影响了全球能源需求，本次论坛的召开可谓正当其时。
