Platts adjusts daily and weekly CFR Med ammonia assessments; launches daily CFR North Africa ammonia assessment June 27

Platts, part of S&P Global Commodity Insights, has adjusted the specifications of its daily and weekly CFR Med Region ammonia assessments and launched a daily CFR North Africa ammonia assessment, effective June 27, 2025.

The adjustments to the specifications of the daily and weekly CFR Med Region ammonia assessments and launch of a daily CFR North Africa ammonia assessment follow a proposal published here (opens in a new tab)May 12, 2025, and a decision published here (opens in a new tab)May 30, 2025.

The specification changes and assessment launch more clearly capture the market dynamics of the region, recognizing the differences in origin and volume of spot cargoes delivered to Moroccan and Turkish ports.

The daily single number CFR North Africa ammonia assessment has been launched with a basis location of Jorf Lasfar, Morocco with the following specifications:

Assessment Name: Ammonia CFR North Africa - daily (AFRNA00)

Quality: Anhydrous ammonia, which is around 82% nitrogen and is stored and transported as a liquid under pressure at around minus 33 degrees Celsius, with no restrictions on carbon intensity

Quantity: Basis 25,000 mt

Basis and location: Spot; Basis port Jorf Lasfar, Morocco

Timing: Product to be delivered one-to-six weeks forward

Frequency: Daily

Unit of measurement: $/mt

Timestamp: 16:30 London close, published according to the London publishing calendar

Simultaneously, the daily CFR Med Region ammonia assessment (FAMMC00) has been renamed CFR Turkey, the quantity specification adjusted from 5,000-15,000 mt to 15,000 mt, and the basis location for the assessment narrowed to Mediterranean Sea ports in Turkey.

In addition, Platts has removed the contract element of the established weekly CFR Med Region assessment (FAMRA04), adjusted its quantity and location specifications, and standardized the relationship between the weekly CFR Med Region ammonia assessment and the aforementioned daily CFR Turkey and CFR North Africa ammonia assessments.

As of June 27, the CFR Med Region weekly range consistently reflects the lowest and highest of the daily CFR Turkey and CFR North Africa ammonia assessments published over the course of the preceding trading week(Friday to Thursday).
