Platts proposes to change uranium price assessment delivery basis

Platts, part of S&P Global Commodity Insights, is seeking feedback on a proposal to change the delivery basis for its spot uranium and UF6 price assessments, effective April 4, 2025.

Platts understands that uranium is often traded as a title transfer, with U3O8 rarely being physically moved or transported as part of a spot transaction. By making transfer title the basis for delivery, Platts assessments will better reflect this market convention.

Platts has accepted both title transfer and physical delivery as a delivery basis. Under this change, physically delivered material would be considered for normalization in the assessment process.

Platts recognizes that material being physically delivered or as a title transfer are often traded at parity. The potential that tariffs may be levied on material in the future, based on origin and/or destination, may result in a difference in value.

The Platts uranium assessments, including spot U3O8, U3O8 locational differentials, UF6 and uranium conversion, are published in Platts Nuclear Fuel, Platts Nuclear Fuel Uranium Pricing Supplement, on the PEA0308 and PEP0308 fixed pages and in the Platts pricing database.
