LNG
January 16, 2025
Platts, part of S&P Global Commodity Insights, has launched balance-month next-day (Balmo-ND), monthly and three calendar year Northwest European LNG derivative assessments, against a time stamp of 4:30 pm London time, effective Jan. 16, 2025.
The Balmo-ND assessment reflects the tradable value of a derivative contract that financially settles against the remaining yet-to-be-published NWE assessments (under symbol AASXU00) for the pricing month, starting from the next day of publication.
The Balmo-ND derivatives assessment is published from the first assessment day of a pricing month to the sixth last assessment day of the same pricing month.
For example, from Jan. 16, 2025, to Feb. 7, 2025, Platts will publish NWE Balmo-ND assessments for the pricing month of March 2025.
Secondly, Platts has extended the existing monthly NWE LNG derivative assessments by one additional month that is 11 months ahead of the pricing month. This monthly derivative assessment rolls over on the 16th of each calendar month, or the following business day if the 16th is not a business day, in line with other monthly derivative assessments.
Lastly, the three calendar year assessments reflect the tradable values of NWE yearly derivative contracts up to three calendar years ahead of the current calendar year.
These calendar-year assessments roll over on the first business day of each calendar year.
For example, on Dec. 31, 2025, Platts will assess Cal 2026, 2027 and 2028, and on Jan. 2, 2026, Platts will assess Cal 2027, 2028 and 2029.
The table below contains the symbols for the above-mentioned derivative assessments, which are published each business day and reflect tradable values at 4:30 pm London time.
