Malaysia has imposed antidumping duties ranging from 2.09% to 21.72% on prestressed concrete steel wire strand, or PC strand, imported from China for five years effective Dec. 25, according to a notice released late in the week ended Dec. 25 by the Ministry of International Trade and Industry.
The ministry had determined "a dumping margin exists with regard to the imports" and the imports affected the domestic industry that is producing the same product.
The duties imposed are a percentage of cost, insurance and freight (CIF) and resulted from an investigation that began following a petition by Southern PC Steel on behalf of local producers. They affect PC strands classified under HS codes and ASEAN Harmonized Tariff Nomenclature (AHTN) 7312109100. The duties will expire Dec. 24, 2026.
