With rapid penetration of solar photovoltaic, wind and battery energy storage, power systems are shifting away from conventional synchronous generators towards power electronics, i.e., inverters, which may lead to risks of grid instability. Grid-forming inverter technology has been developed to support grid operation by providing similar capabilities as synchronous generators.
